Earlier this year I spent a couple weeks in Vietnam with my buddy Tyler. Tiger Beer was everywhere. At some point I decided I needed a shirt as a souvenir. Tiger has this great vintage visual identity and it felt like a no-brainer. Problem was nothing fit. Vietnamese sizing just wasn't built for me. So I came home and made my own.

Tiger Beer Shirt

Tiger Beer has been around since 1932 and their archival advertising is genuinely great. Bold typography, illustrated tigers, old Malayan Breweries bottle art, Chinese characters mixed with English copy. It's the kind of visual language that doesn't really exist in Western beer branding. I wanted to pull from that heritage and remix it through a streetwear lens. Less official merchandise, more bootleg. The kind of shirt that looks like it came from a market stall in a good way

The graphic pulls directly from vintage Tiger Beer advertising. The roaring tiger illustration, the classic Malayan Breweries bottle, and the pin-up figure from old print ads. I layered these elements into a busy, poster-style composition using the original brand palette.
The whole thing was designed in Illustrator, refined on the iPad, and intentionally kept dense. The goal was something that rewards a second look.

I printed it myself using DTF transfers and heat pressed it onto oversized white tees. The oversized fit was a deliberate choice, it gives the graphic room to breathe and fits the streetwear reference point. Printed a small run for myself and a few friends.
Didn't get a souvenir. Made something better.
